International students who come to study at the university via bilateral, ministerial agreements, ERASMUS or ISEP programme are exchange students. Prospective exchange students should contact the appropriate international office at their home university before mailing their application materials. All application documents must be sent directly to the International Student Service, not to the program to be attended to.
Exchange students are free to select courses from different programs, faculties to compile a study plan that best suits their needs. Students need to pay attention to a course level, as master´ s level courses are not accessible to bachelor´s level students.
Information on courses offered in English is being constantly updated, however, some changes might still come up later. For example, the schedule of the courses of visiting lecturers can be added during the running semester.
The university reserves the right to cancel any courses due to unforseen circumstances.
International exchange students, scholarship holders must submit the following documents to International Student Service by :

Please note that the online application form must be filled in after you have been selected by your home university for study abroad at the University of Tartu. Follow the instructions given in the online application form.

3. transcript of university records
4. copy of valid identification document (non EU applicants-valid passport copy)
5. one photo (3 cm x 4 cm; attach to the application form)
6.proof of English language skills (not applicable for native speakers and students of the universities with English as a language of instruction)
Exchange students, whose primary language is not English, must meet level B2 requirements for English proficiency according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For the requirements, please see here European Levels - Self Assessment Grid.
Documentary evidence is needed to demonstrate your English language proficiency. It can be: an official proof by language instructor of your university stating that your English skills are sufficient to study abroad; If you have taken any international test of the English language (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.), please send us a copy of the test score.
If the complete set of documents is not sent by the required deadline, the university can not process documents on time and students applications may be rejected because of that.

Dear exchange students, scholarship holders!
Thank you for submitting the required documents, we will process the documents within three /four weeks after the admission deadline. Admission letters, if accepted to the university, with other information materials should reach you around the mid December/ July at latest. Prior sending the admission materials we inform all students by e-mail, so that you would be aware of an official letter coming soon.
