Murray C Meikle DDSc, MSD, PhD, FDSRCS, FRCS is Emeritus Professor of Orthodontics, King’s College London Dental Institute at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, and a former Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Born in New Zealand, he was educated at the Universities of Otago, Washington and St John’s College, Cambridge. His research interests lie in the cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating connective tissue turnover and for many years worked as a part-time research scientist at the Strangeways Research Laboratory in Cambridge. He has published widely in the scientific and clinical literature and is the author of a critically acclaimed book Craniofacial Development, Growth and Evolution. His awards include the John Tomes Prize and a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and an FRCS ad hominem from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has been Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Otago and is currently a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore.
