Duties and responsibilities: Professorship in European Union-Russian Studies is a part of the university's strategic goal to develop a strong international profile by establishing world-class research groups and by developing international degree programmes. Duties and responsibilities include:
- developing research groups and seeking of research grants;
- enhancing existing curricula (MA and Ph.D. programmes in the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences; Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and at EuroCollege);
- delivering lectures and seminars;
- supervising MA and PhD thesis;

Work load: 1.0 (40 hours a week), incl 128 hours of classroom teaching a year.
Term of contract: 30.08.2010 - 29.08.2015

Salary: 60000 EEK per month. The professorship is co-financed by the European Social Fund programme DoRa.
Required qualifications: Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. or other equivalent academic degree, preferably in the field of International Relations, Public Administration or International Economics. Required experience: A successful candidate will be a distinguished expert in the field of political/administrative/economic/social etc aspects of European Union and Russian Studies. Within the last five years he/she must have completed internationally recognised research equivalent to more than one doctoral thesis. The candidate should have worked as a professor, assistant professor or associate professor for at least five years and is expected to be successful in securing research grants and performing the research required under those grants. The candidate should have good experience in university teaching and in supervising PhD students.
Required language skills: Fluent in English, preferably good language skills in Russian.

PROFESSOR IN CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING
Structural unit: Narva College of the University of Tartu
Duties and responsibilities: Research work: The aim is to formulate the research area of expertise in content and language integrated learning. The professor should form, develop and lead a research group of educational sciences focusing on the education of Masters and doctoral students in the field. The work involves planning, preparation and execution of research and developmental work and supervision of Masters and doctoral students in the field. The candidate should have an ability to generate research funding. Development of the field: The professor is expected to contribute to the developing of teacher education curricula for improving the preparation of students in research area to deal with the inadequacies on the grass-root level and not with the consequences later on. In addition, the professor should give lectures, hold seminars and deliver practical classes on educational methodology, content and language integrated learning and give consultations on educational research and publishing scientific papers. The professor�s responsibilities also include the promotion of CLIL, involvement in development of the newly formed CLIL-network and establishing CLIL traditions (for example conference-seminar series). In addition we expect building and maintaining collaborations with universities, research institutions and public sector (esp. schools) in Estonia and abroad. See also:

research publications in the journals with a high impact factor in the
field of educational sciences (preferably indexed in ISI Web of
Knowledge database). Within the last five years they must have
completed internationally recognised research equivalent to more than
one doctoral thesis. The candidate should have worked as a professor,
assistant professor or associate professor for at least five years and
is expected to be successful in securing research grants and performing
the research required under those grants. The candidate should also
have successful experiences in the management of academic staff and in
the organisation of research activities. The candidate must have
supervised in the field at least three doctoral theses that have been
defended successfully. Informedness and awareness of the actual school
reality and problems resulting from the experience of working as
teacher educator or school teacher is an advantage to standing for this
position. In addition, good skills of collaboration and socialising
with colleagues are considered as one of award criteria for the
selection procedures.
Required language skills: Fluency in English is needed. ussian language skills are an advantage, but not required. It is encouraged to learn Estonian during the work in Estonia because it helps better understand national context that plays an important role in research and developmental work. Possibilities to study Estonian language are provided by the University of Tartu.
