Admission General information from International Student Office Master's studies Information about international master program can be found on program's homepage. Additional information about master's studies Doctor's studies Application is possible either to a state-financed study place (application deadline: 3rd of June, 2013), or to a non-state financed study place (application period: throughout the year). In either cases there is no tuition fee. The state-financed study place will provide a stipend of 383, 47 EUR/month by the University of Tartu. However, there is usually very high competition for the state-financed study place. For admission, a doctoral thesis project is required. When preparing it, a candidate is required to consult the potential supervisor from the Department of Semiotics (K. Kull, P. Torop, M. Lotman, T. Maran, A. Randviir, U. Parli, J. Grigorjeva, E. Sutiste, or A. Ventsel) who will help in preparing the project. In addition to the supervisor in Tartu, a student may have a consulting supervisor from any university of the world. The candidates to a state-financed study place are expected to come to Tartu for an oral examination, which consists of the defense of the project in June or July (at the day announced ). For the study year 2013/2014 the entrance examination takes place on the 26th of June. The arrangement of the defense of the project for the candidates to a non-state financed study place will be decided on an individual basis.
