Department of Semiotics in Tartu University offers a doctoral programm that lasts 4 years and requires 240 ECTS (credits in European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
Department of Semiotics offers a creative research environment and a fascinating group of scholars, and excellent library specialized in semiotic literature.
Currently most courses on curriculum are in Estonian, yet can be replaced with supervised individual work. We also provided a series of general and special courses on various branches of semiotics in English, both from local and visiting scholars. Thus every student can find in Tartu the possibilities that in the best way can meet his or her scholarly needs.

We are also developing an international doctoral studies program The European Mind: Doctoral Studies in Semiotics for a Knowledge and Value Based Society (SEMKNOW) togerher with University of Lapland, New Bulgarian University, and University of Torino. This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
