E X C U R S I O N S

A)  South Estonia: Setumaa
A coach trip to Setu villages in Põlva and Võru Counties. You will get acquainted with Setu folk culture, village architecture, and several places with beautiful nature and of cultural significance. Lunch with traditional Setu ethnic food at the Värska Farmstead Museum. Minimum number of participants 45.

B)  South Estonia: Võrumaa
You will visit various places with beautiful nature and of cultural in the historical Võrumaa region. Estonia’s highest sandstone cliff, thickest tree, deepest lake, and highest peak… Places where Jakob Hurt and Friedrich R. Kreutzwald, the renowned authorities on Estonian folklore, lived and worked. Minimum number of participants 45.

C)  South Estonia: Valgamaa
A coach trip through varied landscape in the southwestern direction from Tartu. You will visit a number of places with beautiful nature and of cultural significance (Rõngu Crooked Inn, Barclay de Tolly Mausoleum, Helme Caves and Castle Ruins, Sangaste Castle, Otepää Church and stronghold on a hill, Lake Pühajärv, etc.). You will visit three different South Estonian small towns on your way: the summer resort Elva, the somewhat sleepy Tõrva, and the skiing capital Otepää. Minimum number of participants 45.

D) Viljandimaa
A coach trip to the places with beautiful nature and of cultural significance (Suure-Jaani, Lõhavere Stronghold, Heimtali Manor, Halliste Church, historic Mulgimaa, etc.). Guided tour of Viljandi. Minimum number of participants 45.

E) North Tartumaa
You will visit the most important cultural sights and places with beautiful nature (scenes of Kalevipoeg, Alatskivi Castle, places where the authors Juhan Liiv, Oskar Luts, and Anna Haava used to live, Russian coastal villages with their distinctive lifestyle on the shore of Lake Peipsi, ruins of Laiuse Castle, the highest peak of Vooremaa, etc.). Minimum number of participants 45.

F)  Island of Piirissaare
A 63km hydrofoil voyage along the Emajõgi River and on Lake Peipsi to the Island of Piirissaare. You will do some sightseeing and get acquainted with the lifestyle of the local community consisting mainly of Old Believers. A 4.5 km walking tour, picnic on the island with local smoked fish. Maximum number of participants 45.
 

A C C O M M O D A T I O N

Hotel Categories with price ranges:
A) 45-100 USD per day: the hotels Barclay, Pallas, Park located in the city centre
B) 25-45 USD per day: the hotels Uppsala House, Tampere House, Tartu located in the city centre; the hotels Kantri, Ihaste, Mai, etc are located 3-4 km from the city centre
C) 20-25 USD per day: the hotels Rehe, Carolina located 3-4 km from the city centre; the hotel Tartu located in the city centre
D) 5-20 USD per day: dormitories (no breakfast)
E) 15-20 USD per day: family accommodation
 

The hotels have double and triple occupancy rooms. Categories A and B include some single rooms and the category A has some suites available. The price includes breakfast (no breakfast in dormitories). Smaller guest houses can be booked for larger companies (8-15 persons). Please indicate the chosen hotel category in the registration form. The reservations will be in the order of receiving the registration forms. We will consider your requests concerning the location of the hotel and the roommate. The accommodation should be paid directly to the hotel. We will send you a separate letter describing the address of the final hotel, conditions, and price.
