The City of Tartu is located in the south of Estonia, 180 kilometres south of Tallinn, Estonia's capital. Tartu is easily accessible by car, bus or train and by air (via Helsinki) The city is within two and a half hours' drive from Tallinn and its airport.
Tartu is a city of young people - roughly one fifth of its 100 000 inhabitants are university students. The city is graced with a beautiful river and numerous parks. Its neoclassical centre is small enough to cover on foot, and only a few minutes walk from the rail and coach stations. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the University of Tartu's sights and museums.
