Competition to study as an exchange student at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology
Pursuant to the cooperation agreement between the two universities, students from the University of Tartu have the chance to apply for a student exchange to the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST) in China.
Exchange students are guaranteed free tuition at host university and free accommodation in the dormitory. All other expenses (travelling, visa, health insurance, meals etc.) must be covered by the student.
Language of instruction: mainly Chinese, some courses are also taught in English (mainly in the Faculty of Economics). It is also possible to study Chinese (from beginners to advanced levels).

Competition for the academic year 2013/14
The competition is open to students from all study levels and specialities.
Proficiency in Chinese language is not necessarily required (if student takes courses taught in English or participates in the Chinese language programme).
For taking courses in English, students must be fluent in English - required at least level B2 on CEF scale.
Application documents (in English):
- UT application for study abroad;
- Statement of purpose (letter of motivation);
- Letter of recommendation from a supervisor or professor at UT;
- Transcript of records (with average grade; in English); Master's and PhD students must also submit a diploma supplement (in English) on the previous level of study (ask for that at the International Student Service from your coordinator);
- Certificate on command of English (IELTS, TOEFL or the test of UT Language Centre), minimum requirement: on CEF scale at least level B2;
- Certificate on command of Chinese (if applicable).
Application deadline: April 1, 2013.

Letter of motivation needs to be sent also by email to piret [dot] must [ät] ut [dot] ee (in addition to the hard copies).
The students selected by the UT grant committee will also have to complete USST application form and submit the copy of passport (page bearing personal details).
