The University of Tartu is the calling card of Estonian higher education and of the city of Tartu. The university has been graced by visits from numerous dignitaries, including the King and the Queen of Sweden; the presidents of Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland and other countries; His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many others. It has become a custom for distinguished statesmen, renowned scientists and scholars, and other venerable guests who visit the university to give a public lecture in the Assembly Hall of the Main Building.
You can visit the calendar to see the list of official visits and an overview of previous and planned visits .
Representatives of the University of Tartu participate on a regular basis in international education marketing events, including education fairs, conferences, embassy events, etc. In cooperation with other Estonian higher education institutions and the Archimedes Foundation, we have launched an international campaign under the brand name "Study in Estonia " to advertise opportunities for foreign students to study in Estonia.
In addition to numerous international conferences and seminars, UT also hosts the annual German-Estonian academic week "Academica " and the Granö lecture series by Finnish professors. Dorpater Dozentenabend, a social club night for UT international staff, is held once every month.
