Estonian-German Academic Week Will Bring Lecturers from Several German Universities to Tartu
From November 18 to November 22, Academica – the Estonian-German Academic Week – will take place at the University of Tartu, offering lectures, interesting encounters and events for everyone interested in German culture. For the first time, Academica includes a symposium about the ethics of science and protection of intellectual property.
From Monday to Wednesday, foreign guests will give lectures at the Faculties of Law, Theology, Philosophy, and Science and Technology. Most of the lectures will be in English. See the programme at the Academica site.
The Academica symposium "Ethics, Science and Protection of Intellectual Property: New Technologies, Old Rights and Difficult Moral Dilemmas", will feature scientists from German universities and the University of Tartu who will speak about many moral challenges, including the impact that ACTA has had on protection of intellectual property. The symposium will take place on Tuesday, November 20 in the rooms of the Domus Dorpatensis foundation. See the programme.
At 7 PM Tuesday, an evening meeting between German and Estonian students is planned. All Estonian students who have recently studied in Germany are welcome, as well as all German students who are studying in Estonia at the moment. The panel discussion will take place in Domus Dorpatensis with the focus on learning and teaching experiences abroad.
Anyone interested is welcome to the lectures at the faculties, as well as the symposium and the evening student meeting. The programme of Academica XVI can be seen at www.academica.ut.ee.
