The Events of the 25th Anniversary of the Tartu Heritage Protection Days

From 12‒20 April, the passing of 25 years from the first Tartu Heritage Protection Days, which played a valuable role in increasing Estonians’ self-awareness and, in the long run, regaining independence, will be celebrated with many events.

During the Heritage Protection Days, many conferences will be held, monuments renovated during independence will be introduced, and a procession will take place. On 30 April at 7:15 p.m., Toomas Ilves, the President of Estonia, will lay the first stone for the new home of the Estonian National Museum at Raadi, the Field of Memories.

In the lobby of the University of Tartu Main Building (Ülikooli 18) the photo exhibition “25 Years from the First Tartu Heritage Protection Days” is opened, as well as the exhibition “Ice Run. Tartu Heritage Protection Days 1988” in the exhibition house of the Estonian National Museum (Kuperjanovi 9).
