Georgian Minister of Education and Science to Give a Public Lecture at UT

On October 7 at 11am, Georgian Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini will be giving a public lecture entitled „Second Wave of Democratic Reforms in Georgia“ in the University of Tartu’s Council Room in the Main Building.

In his lecture Mr. Shashkini will focus on democratic reforms and developments in Georgia. Everyone interested in the subject is welcome to attend.

While in Tartu, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini will meet with Rector Prof. Alar Karis and Vice-Rector for Research Kristjan Haller.

Dimitri Shashkini has studied international law at the Greek-Georgian University and earned a master’s degree in Criminal Law cum laude at the Tbilisi State University.

Minister Shashkini was nominated as Minister of Education and Science to the Republic of Georgia in December 2009. Before that, he was a Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia and a Coordinator of the Second Wave of Democratic Reforms.

In previous years, Shashkini was working on campaign management and consulted local and national election campaigns in Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Hungary, Turkey, Latvia and the United States. He has also been a Resident Country Director at the International Republican Institute.
