Lecture: Folkloristic views on the UFO phenomenon

Kirsi Hänninen, folklore researcher from University of Turku, will hold public lecture on UFOs through folkloristic view. All are welcome to attend!

Kirsi Hänninen says about the topic:
"Throughout the centuries, people have told about strange visions and objects in the sky. Stories about strange lights and unknown airships, flying saucers and UFOs have emerged all around the world. Some people tell abut having contacts with the extraterrestrials, some share terrifying stories of alien abductions. This presentation discusses the ways Folklore scholars have studied the UFO phenomenon. We will discuss if the phenomenon has continuity with older folk belief, what common features UFO stories share, and what it is like to do ethnography among UFO contact people."

The lecture "Folkloristic views on the UFO phenomenon" will take place on Tuesday, Sept 4th, 2012 at 2.15 pm in Ülikooli 16-212.

You are warmly welcome!
