Marco Kirm New Vice Rector for Research

Marco Kirm, Director of the University of Tartu Institute of Physics, will start work as the new Vice Rector for Research on 17 July.

The area of responsibility of the Vice Rector for Research will include the University of Tartu Science School and, in cooperation with Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, development of doctoral studies. Both of these areas were previously coordinated by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs. Innovation, industry relations and technology development, areas which previously were coordinated by the Vice Rector for Research, will become the area of responsibility of the third Vice Rector whose position is yet unfilled.

Marco Kirm was born on 27 December 1965. He obtained his PhD from Lund University in 1995. Since 2009 he has worked as the Director of the University of Tartu Institute of Physics. Marco Kirm’s more detailed CV can be viewed at the Estonian Research Information System.

The Institute of Physics will be temporarily led by Vice Directors, until the appointment of the new director.
