The lecture will take place on Wednesday April 18th at 16.15 in university main building (room 140). Welcome!

Meghan K. Winchell, Fulbright Scholar and Associate Professor of History at Nebraska Wesleyan University in the United States will give a public lecture “Teaching Moments:  Race and Gender in the Estonian Context” on Wednesday, 18 April at 16:15-17:45 in Ülikooli 18-140.

She will discuss her experiences teaching African American and US Women’s History at the University of Tartu. Winchell taught African American History last semester and is teaching US Women’s History and Gender Theory here now. She will examine a series of teaching moments such as when Estonian students made connections between their own culture and African American history and when they noticed that ideas about gender are present in their lives on a regular basis.
