Polish President to visit University of Tartu

His Excellency Mr. Bronisław Komorowski will be visiting University of Tartu on March 29th. The Polish President will meet city leaders and university management and will give a public lecture at midday in the university Assembly Hall.

His excellency Mr. Bronisław Komorowski arrives to Tartu with his wife Anna Komorowska. They will be escorted by Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Mrs Evelin Ilves.

The polish delegation will meet University of Tartu Vice Rector for Research Kristjan Haller, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Martin Hallik, the chairman of Tartu city councel Aadu Must and the mayor of Tartu Urmas Kruuse. There will also be a meeting with the Polish students studying in the university and members of the local Polish community. Mr Komorowski will place flowers to the memorial tablet of Polish King Stefan Batory, which is located on the University of Tartu main building, on the side facing Jakobi street.

Starting at 12 the Polish President will give a public lecture in the Assembly Hall of the University of Tartu. The lecture is titled “Good neighbourhood in the foreign policy of the Republic of Poland” and it will be in Polish with simultaneous interpretation to English. Everybody is welcome to attend!

Bronisław Komorowski was born on 4. July 1952 Oborniki Slaskie near Wrocławi. He graduated the history departement of University of Warsaw in 1977. Komorowski is an experienced politician and has been a member of the Polish parliament since 1991. As a speaker of the parliament Komorowski became the Polish president after the tragic flight disaster on April 2010 that resulted in death of president Lech Kaczyński. Bronisław Komorowski was elected President in 2010 summer and was sworn into office on 6 August 2010.
