Professor Robert Jackson to deliver a public seminar at UT

Professor of Religious Diversity and Education at the European Wergeland Centre and Warwick University, Robert Jackson will hold a public seminar „The interpretive approach: a hermeneutical methodology for studying religion in society“ on 14th of February at 14.15 in Ülikooli 18-226.

The presentation will give an account of the development of an ethnographic approach to the study of religious minorities. The researchers moved from an approach based initially in the phenomenology of religion to an approach grounded in interpretive ethnography, but also influenced by social psychology and history of religions.

The development of the approach moves between reflection on the practice of research and encounter with new theory and method. The approach was employed as a set of principles used by a team of European researchers on the REDCo (religion, education, dialogue and conflict) project, and by teams of action researchers working with pupils in schools in England and in Norway, with students in teacher training, and with teachers on in-service courses.

More information about professor Jackson you can find here.

The seminar will be held in English in Ülikooli 18-226.

Everybody is welcome to attend!
