Public lecture “The interdependence of national resources and the german “energiewende””
On Wednesday, November 6 at 14.30 Mr Roland Theis, General Secretary of the Christian Democrat Union in Saarland shall give public lecture “The Interdependence of National Resources and the German “Energiewende”” in Lossi 36, room 103.
„Energiewende“(energy turnaround) is the second most important political topic for the German government beside the financial crisis. The public in Germany has been expressing their critical feelings about the energy manufacturing. As a result of lively discussions in the society the government has already started to make changes in their energy policy.
The main challenge of the reform is to ensure cheap electricity for domestic houses and businesses without using any nuclear power. The problem however is that these two demands are in conflict on the very basic level. This complex set of issues has raised many important questions for the future and discussions in Germany are carefully observed by other European countries.
Everybody is welcome to attend!
The lecture is organized by the European College at University of Tartu in cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
