Student Web Provides Companies Free Environment for Mediation of Employment and Practical Training

Student Web, the new information portal of Estonian higher education establishments, has been created to support the studies of students and help them cooperate with companies as it assembles entrants, students, alumni and companies who look for employees and trainees into a single environment.

The main objective of Student Web is to be a fast track between students and alumni of universities, and companies. The new environment provides companies with a quick and comfortable way to find trainees and employees from students and alumni of the largest universities. „Until now, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn University and the University of Tartu have had separate environments for mediation of employment and practical training,“ Piret Tatunts, the Head of C&P Counselling of the University of Tartu, says, „now, this environment enables an employer to get in touch with students and alumni of nine higher education establishments through a single channel without having to spend so much time anymore.“

The new environment for mediation of employment and practical training can be used free of charge. Employers can add job and practical training offers and see CVs of job and practical training seekers who study in or have graduated from these universities. „In the partner universities of Student Web there are in total of 52,000 students who are eager to learn and grow. A student employee or trainee brings new perspectives to a company which creates a possibility to look at routine work processes in a new way,“ states Tatunts the advantages of hiring a student.

The following higher education establishments participate in the information portal: Estonian Academy of Arts, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Estonian National Defence College, TTK University of Applied Sciences, Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn University, Tartu Art College and the University of Tartu. The creation of the information portal was funded by the European Social Fund through the measure of the Archimedes Foundation „Cooperation and Innovation between Higher Education Establishments“.

The new Student Web environment contains topics on the organisation of studies, practical tips and provides advice on how to enter the employment market successfully. Student Web provides useful information for entrants, students, as well as entrepreneurs. The articles on Student Web are free to be used by anyone without having to log in. The employment and practical training mediation portal is available to be used by any employer and students and alumni of Student Web’s partner universities.
