University of Tartu launched a unique online service database for enterprises
The experience, know-how and equipment of the university have been brought together in the new services database, which includes cooperation opportunities in nine fields comprising more than 60 different services.
“Thanks to several successful cooperation projects with private and public sector enterprises, we are prepared to share the potential of the University of Tartu as a research institution with all enterprises willing to develop new products or find a solution to a problem together with researchers,” says the Head of Industrial Liaison at the University of Tartu Alar Tõru. According to Tõru, the services database includes services from geophysical surveys with a ground-penetrating radar to sociological studies offered to local governments and state authorities: “Up till now, there has been no such online database for enterprises that is constantly updated like this.”
Tõru cites the evaluation of the internal climate of a working environment as one of the most popular services. “The experience and machinery of the working environment laboratory of the University of Tartu make it possible to measure the satisfaction indexes of interior space use, noise, lighting and ventilation effectiveness, among other things, providing a good overview of the health of the building as well as the factors affecting its inhabitants,” Tõru says. The evaluation of internal climate has involved cooperation with companies operating on industrial premises as well as organisations whose everyday work takes place in an office.
The services provided by UT laboratories and other units in the fields of construction and real estate; energy, mining and quarrying; manufacturing; health and biotechnology; agriculture and forestry; information and communication technology; water supply and waste; and arts and culture have been brought together in an easy-to-use frequently updated database equipped with brief descriptions of the services.
Information on the cooperation opportunities targeted at enterprises is available on the university website.
