The University of Tartu welcomes students to Career Day on the 20th of July 2012

An education fair Career Day takes place on the 20th of July at the University of Tartu History Museum.

The event is organized by the University of Tartu and The Gifted and Talented Development Centre of the University of Tartu. Career Day features a fair with five top universities (University of Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, National University of Singapore, the University of Tartu and Tallinn University of Technology) and an exhibition of inventions by the University of Tartu's scientists. The fair takes place from 10 am to 4 pm and the exhibition is opened from 12.30 pm until 5 pm. The event takes place at the University of Tartu History Museum (Lossi 25) and it is free of charge for everybody.

The fair is a great opportunity for students to talk to the representatives of each university and ask them about the programmes that the universities offer, entry requirements, living conditions etc.

Each university will also have a small presentation in the conference room. The schedule of the presentations:

10.15- 11.00 University of Tartu

11.10 - 11.40 Oxford University

13.00 - 14.00 National University of Singapore

14.10 - 15.10 MIT

15.20 - 16.20 Tallinn University of Technology

The presentation of the University of Tartu will include a robot theatre and a presentation about student satellite ESTCube-1.

During the career day there is also an exhibition of inventions associated with the University of Tartu such as myometer, Fits.me, ME-3, robots, satellite ESTCube-1 etc. The exhibition is opened at 12.30 pm and it stays opened until 5 pm. It is located in tents in front of the University of Tartu History Museum and in the lobby of the museum.

Estonia has the honour of being the host of the 43rd International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), which will be held from July 15th to 24th, 2012. The Olympiad will be held in two locations, the capital Tallinn (team leaders), and the oldest university town in Estonia, Tartu (students). Estonian people and the organizers of the Olympiad are looking forward to meeting young physicists and their supervisors from all over the world, and to introducing them to the innovative country, which values education, has rich cultural heritage and beautiful land.
