UT and Nebraska Wesleyan University to Take Measure on Basket Court

On Tuesday, 16th of August at 6 pm the UT's basket team (II division) will meet the team of Nebraska Wesleyan University (USA) for historical battle on basket court. The game takes place in University Gym (Ujula Str 4) and is free of charge. Welcome!

NWU basket team, the Prarie Wolves, will play three games total in Estonia: in addition to UT/Rock they will meet Rakvere's Tarvas and BC Pärnu.

According to Nebraska Wesleyan University basketball coach Cam Schuknecht, is this a great advantage to extra practices and games throughout the summer. “We get time on the floor and time together as a team that we wouldn’t normally get.”

“This trip allows our team the opportunity to compete against athletes from another country, while learning about and experiencing the cultures, customs and history of Estonia,” Schuknecht added. “The memories of this trip will last a lifetime.”

Also the director of UT's basket division, Andres Ottender is delighted to take measure of the far guests. "The Americans feared that our main team would be a bit too hard nut to crack for them, so we will send our second division on the court, backing it up with a few main team players if needed," said Ottender.

One player on the current NWU roster, sophomore center Sass Karemae, will with this trip be returning to his native homeland. 202 cm tall Estonian has been a part of the NWU basketball team for the past two seasons.

Nebraska Wesleyan has had several students from Estonia as they currently have a student exchange program with Tartu University.

The basket team will be accompanied by a high rank delegation from NWU, including NWU alumni, a great supporter for both universities and the head of Harry and Reba Huge Foundation, Mr Harry Huge and his wife Reba alongside of another distinguished NWU alumni and member of NWU's Board of Goverernors, Mr Lawrence C. Mohr. On UT's side they will be followed by the Vice Rector for Accademic Affairs, Mr Kristjan Haller and the Councellor Mr Andres Liinat.
