UT new Rector Volli Kalm to be inaugurated on 31st of August
The inauguration ceremony will take place on Friday, August 31st at noon in UT Assembly Hall.
The medal symbolising the office of the Rector will be presented to Professor Kalm by the President of Estonia, Toomas Hendrik Ilves. Professor Kalm, rector magnificus, will deliver his inauguration speech. In addition to the President and Rector Kalm, the members of the University and the public in attendance will be addressed by rector emeritus Alar Karis.
Greetings will be presented by the Minister of Education, Jaak Aaviksoo; by Andres Keevallik, Rector of the Tallinn University of Technology and Representative of the Council of Rectors of Estonian Universities and by the Head of UT Student Body Council, Erik Raudsepp.
The inauguration ceremony will be held as an open meeting of the Senat and the Council of the University of Tartu, led by the Chairman of the Council, Mrs Kersti Kaljulaid.
