UT will elect new rector on Thursday
The elections of the rector of University of Tartu will take place on 31st of May at noon in University Assembly Hall.
The three candidates running for university rector are: Toivo Maimets, Professor of Cell Biology and Director of the UT Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology; Volli Kalm, Professor of Applied Geology and Chair of Estonian Research Council; Mart Ustav, Professor of Biomedical Technology, Member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences.
The election meeting will be held on 31 May at 12 noon in the University Assembly Hall. The Rector will be elected by a 347-member electoral college consisting of all University Council and Senate members, all members of the faculty councils, all regular professors and senior researchers. The candidate who receives the votes of at least 174 Electoral College members will be declared elected.
