See on lugu keskealisest naisest, kes on jäänud lõksu oma religioossete tõekspidamiste ja reaalsuse vahele. Whang Jung Min, kes sai palju kiita oma rolli eest Save the Green Planet'is, suudab ka siin jätta väga võimsa mulje. Kristlikust perspektiivist on tema tõekspidamised ebatavalised. Seetõttu ei saa ta end ka avalikult väljendada ning peab end tagasi hoidma. Nii nagu ei ole kindel tema usk, on ka ta elu ebakindel. Kuigi talle tundub, et tema armastab oma ema kõige rohkem, ei ole ta kindel kui kaua peaks oma koomas olevat ema elus hoidma. Kui tema tütar koos peigmehega otsustab teda petta ning lööb mesti teiste sugulastega, kes soovivad kooma ja haiglakulud lõpetada, siis see lööb ta rivist välja. Seda filmi ei ole lihtne vaadata. Kuid ta räägib tähtsatest probleemidest, millest on võimatu mööda vaadata. Konflikti eripära, vastandus- ning lepitusmoment tegelaste vahel paneb südame valutama.

Plot
2011 ACF Post-production Fund In this story of a middle-aged woman who is caught between her religious beliefs and reality, Whang Jung Min, who garnered rave reviews for her performance in [Save the Green Planet], succeeds in leaving a powerful impression as the leading character. From the viewpoint of Christianity, the woman’s religious beliefs are unorthodox. So, she is unable to confidently express her convictions and just keeps them concealed like something unethical. Just like her beliefs, her reality is not so easy. Even though she seems to be the one who loves her mother the most, she is uncertain as to how long she should keep her comatose mother alive. When her beloved daughter and her son-in-law deceive her and side with aunts and uncle who want to cut her life short, she has no choice but to break down. The film is not easy on the eye. Just like ‘a mink coat’ in the middle of the winter, it bears a lot of weight. Nevertheless, there exist universal aspects that cannot be overlooked. The universality of conflict, confrontation and reconciliation between the characters makes the heart ache. (review: JEON, Chan Il)

줄거리
가족 또한 이해관계에서 자유로울 수 없다는, 가슴 아린 현실을 새삼 일깨우는 문제적 가족드라마이다. “자신의 종교적인 신념과 현실 사이에서 시험을 겪게 되는 한 중년 여성의 이야기”이기도. <지구를 지켜라>의 명품 조연 황정민이 그 여인을 실감 넘치게 소화해냈다. 주연으로서 강렬한 인상을 각인시키는데 성공한 것. 정통 기독교 관점에서 보면, 그녀의 종교적 신념은 사이비다. 때문에 그녀는 그 신념을 당당히 밝히지 못하고, 비의처럼 간직·유지한다. 그녀가 처한 현실도 그 신념마냥 녹녹치 않다. 가족 가운데 엄마를 가장 사랑하는듯 보이는 그녀마저도, 코마 상태의 엄마를 언제까지 연명시켜야 하는 건지 확신하질 못한다.  그토록 사랑하는 출가한 딸과 사위가 그녀를 속이고, 할머니를 단명 시키려는 이모와 삼촌 편에 설 때, 그녀는 무너지지 않을 도리가 없다. 이래저래 영화를 지켜보기가 편치만은 않다. 한겨울의 ‘밍크코트’처럼, 그 무게가 워낙 묵직해서다, 그럼에도 그 안에는 외면할 수 없는 보편성이 배어 있다. 인물들 간의 갈등과 충돌, 그리고 화해에 내포된 보편성으로 인해 가슴 시리다. Director: SHIN, A Ga
Born in Jeonju in 1974, Shin Aga graduated from Ewha University with Art degree and studied filmmaking at Korean Film Academy. Her short film [Wings] (2003) was presented at Seoul International Woman’s Film Festival. She worked as assistant director on [Shin Sung Il is Missing] (2004), [See You After School] (2006), and [Two Faces of My Girlfriend] (2007). [Jesus Hospital] is her feature debut.

1974 년 전주에서 출생하여 이화여자대학교 조소과와 한국영화아카데미를 졸업하였다. 2003년 단편 <날개>가 여성영화제에 상영되었고, <신성일의 행방불명> (2004), <방과후 옥상> (2006), <두 얼굴의 여친> (2007)의 조감독을 맡았다. <밍크코트>는 그녀의 첫 장편 데뷔작이다.

Director: LEE, Sang Cheol
Born in 1975 in Seoul, he got his degree in Drama and Cinema from Hanyang University then graduated from Korean Film Academy. He built his career working as assistant director for Lee, Myoung Se’s [Duelist] and [M] (2007). After making a few short films such as [Fuzz] and [Near Future], he directed his feature [Metamorphosis] (2009).

감독: 이상철
1975 년 서울에서 출생하여 한양대학교 연극영화학과와 한국영화아카데미를 졸업하였다. 이명세 영화감독의 <형사 Duelist> (2005), (2007)에서 조감독을 맡았고, <가까운 미래> 등 다수의 단편영화와 장편 극영화 <변신> (2009) 등을 연출하였다.
