Read why Raul Eamets is running for the dean
Raul Eamets, dean candidate in the Faculty of Social Sciences:
My educational and professional background is the reason I am running for dean. Having graduated from the Faculty of Law, I went on to study economics in master’s and doctoral studies. In the mid-90s, Professor U. Varblane invited me to help launch the EuroFaculty. The project provided financial support and human resources to the development of studies in the fields of economics, law, and government and politics. There is also my work as chair of the council of the European College and work in the council of the area of socialia. I have led several subcommittees which are of key importance to the area’s development, for example, teaching common basic subjects, the principles of forming the area’s budget, compiling the ASTRA application and shaping the position of socialia in the formation of the university’s focal topics. Considering all this, the next logical step should be taking responsibility for the implementation of all these decisions.
My main goal is to increase the competitiveness of socialia within the university and in Estonia. Unlike other Estonian universities, our faculty represents all important fields of socialia. We must make this diversity our strength. There are many ideas for doing it!
