Degree Programmes Taught in Estonian – University of Tartu |

Here is what some of our students say about their studies at the University of Tartu:
|
I wanted to study semiotics and wanted to study abroad. The Tartu School of Semiotics is very famous in this field, so the choice was easy! Also, the number of students studying at the Department of Semiotics is limited and classes in the master`s programme are small, which makes it intensive and personal, and easy to communicate. Student social life is quite active at the University of Tartu. There is a lot going on all the time. During my year as an exchange student I enjoyed it very much: for example, we organised a Japanese evening and prepared our national food together with other international students. Now, as a master`s student, I am more focused on my studies and do not want to devote as much time to the student social life at the dorm. I am even considering living in town. |

Getting into the university was relatively easy, as the admission process is simple, but the study programme is academically challenging and keeping up requires a lot of work. No hopping around! I took the Intensive Estonian Course and it was an excellent life-time investment. Back in Finland, it was also very easy to find a summer job. Saying "I study at the University of Tartu!" is enough. Life here went beyond my expectations. Estonia turned out to be a very advanced technological society, with free WIFI in places where you would not expect to find it, e-banking and other services, even in the public sector. Whilst Tartu is the academic capital of Estonia, I also found it to be very friendly and lively, compact and easy to get around. If you choose to study outside of Finland it is definitely worth coming to the University of Tartu, because it is close to our home country and culture. Besides, it is still cheaper to pay for your education and live in Estonia. |
