Entrance requirements of the first cycle curricula for 2013

Language of instruction

The language of instruction in Bachelor´s programmes is Estonian (except for the English group of the Faculty of Medicine and Business Administration). All students admitted to the university and who start their studies in Estonian need to complete the Intensive Estonian Language Course first. The courses are offered on the basis of English and Russian. Applicants who would start to learn Estonian on the basis of English also have to meet the English-language requirements.

Exception: In the Estonian group of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy studies students are required to be sufficiently fluent in Estonian at the time of admission to the university! The knowledge of Estonian must correspond to the level of B2, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Upon applying to medical studies (general Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy), candidates must submit a result of the Estonian language proficiency test (please ask for further info which tests are recognized or acceptable from the International Student Service).

Applicants who have a good command of the Estonian language, but who do not have a certificate of the language proficiency need to take an exam prior to their studies, in August (except for the applicants of the Estonian group of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy).

Academic test

An applicant is required to take an academic aptitude test for admission to the Faculty of Social Sciences (can be replaced with SAT test).
Students applying to other faculties are not obliged to take the test in question, it is an option for applicants. Those who score 80 or more at the academic aptitude test are admitted to a state-funded study place of a curriculum they would like to be enrolled in. Applicants who score 70 - 80 are admitted to a non-state funded study place of a curriculum they would like to be enrolled in.
The academic aptitude test will take place on 10 July 2012 at 10 am. Registration takes place from 25 June 2012 until 06 July 2012. The academic aptitude test can be taken in Estonian and Russian.

Application deadline: June 1
