The University of Tartu teaches a broad range of programmes at all three levels: bachelor, master and doctoral. The university follows the Bologna process in the organisation of its teaching and Bachelor-Master (3+2) system of study modules.

The University of Tartu has the largest and most diverse range of doctoral programmes in Estonia.

Some of the university's study fields are truly unique. For example, for Finno-Ugric studies, the University of Tartu is one of the most important institutions of its kind in the world. The internationally famous Tartu-Moscow School of Cultural Semiotics, founded by University of Tartu scientists, continues to be a hub for experts in the field.

International study programmes

International students have an extensive list of opportunities to pursue. The University of Tartu offers international bachelor, master and doctoral degree programmes. Students coming to Tartu for a shorter period can build their own study plans and follow various courses taught in English.

The International Summer University provides multiple opportunities in the fields of international relations and business, languages, and tourism management.

The University of Tartu participates in several Erasmus Mundus and other joint master's programmes delivered in cooperation with the world's leading universities.
