Successful Careers

Throughout the history of the University of Tartu, many gifted men and women in every life sphere have studied here. Among these are members of the Estonian government and parliament, academic leaders, scientists, business leaders, writers, journalists, etc. Currently, 42 of our alumni are members of 101-member Parliament of Estonia. Nine members of Estonian government, including Prime Minister, are graduates of University of Tartu. In addition, many of our graduates enjoy successful careers in international companies and the European Parliament.

I came to Estonia to find out more about the country and ended up learning much more than I could ever have imagined. Being part Estonian, I had initially planned to stay in the country for a short time to get more in touch with my past by learning the language and the living the culture. I started out as a teacher at a private language school but then jumped at the chance to further my academic career by taking part in the Baltic Studies Master's Program at Tartu University.

"The law education at the University of Tartu has given me the opportunity to participate actively in creation of Estonian State. As multiple minister, as well as leader of many well-known enterprises and exper I have witnessed creation of Estonian legistlation, development of Estonian banking and the success stories of Estonian economic. The universtity gave me not only knowledge, but also ability to use this knowldege effectively and creatively. University of Tartu has been the regional leader in classical areas troughout its long history.
