UT participates in several Erasmus Mundus and other joint master's programmes delivered in cooperation with the world's leading universities. Since 2014 UT is the coordinator for Excellence in Analytical Chemistry Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree.
Some of the university's study fields are truly unique. For example, for Finno-Ugric studies, the University of Tartu is one of the most important institutions of its kind in the world. The internationally famous Tartu-Moscow School of Cultural Semiotics, founded by UT scientists, continues to be a hub for experts in the field.
In addition, international students can come to UT for a semester or an academic year as exchange students through Erasmus+, International Student Exchange Programme (ISEP) and bilateral partnership agreements between universities or independetly as visiting students. They can build their own study plans and follow various courses taught in English.
International Summer University provides multiple opportunities in the fields of law, international relations, business and languages.
The University of Tartu, Estonian Ministry of Education and Research, European Commission and other international organisations provide generous scholarships to finance university education. Many of the university's students enjoy tuition-waiver scholarships and additional stipends.
