DAVID ABRAM is an American phenomenologist and deep ecologist. His thought - in part inspired by Maurice Merleau-Ponty - took shape when he lived as a sleight-of-hand magician among indigenous peoples in Indonesia, Nepal, and the Americas. Today Abram lectures widely, including for American environmental NGOs. Author of the modern classic 'The Spell of the Sensuous: Perception and Language in a More-than-Human World' (1996), and founder (as well as creative director) of The Alliance for Wild Ethics.
