Myxomycetes of the island of Saaremaa, Estonia
Forty three species and infraspecific taxa of myxomycetes were recorded in different ecotopes of the Saaremaa island, the West Estonian Archipelago, during the 17th Symposium of the Baltic Mycologists and Lichenologists in 2008. Among them, thirteen species were found for the first time in Estonia: Arcyria abietina, Comatricha ellae, Craterium leucocephalum, Diderma effusum, Didymium nigripes, Echinostelium apitectum, Licea minima, L. operculata, Physarum robustum, P. viride, Stemonaria irregularis, Stemonitopsis amoena, and Trichia munda.

A total of 172 taxa of lichens are reported from Qaanaaq and Siorapaluk in North West Greenland. Geology and climate of the two localities are briefly treated.

Checklist of the species of the genus Tricholomopsis (Agaricales, Agaricomycetes) in Estonia
Four species of the genus Tricholomopsis (Agaricales, Agaricomycetes) have been recorded in Estonia. A checklist of these species with ecological, phenological and distribution data as well as taxonomic comments is presented.

Four new species of the genus Caloplaca, C. kiewkaensis L.S. Yakovczenko, I.A. Galanina & S.Y. Kondr., C. letrouitioides S.Y. Kondr., Elix & Kärnefelt, C. trassii I.A. Galanina & S.Y. Kondr., and C. ussuriensis Oxner, S.Y. Kondr. & Elix from Asia and Australia are described as new to science and compared with closely related species.

Additions to the Finnish aphyllophoroid fungi
A checklist of Finnish aphyllophoroid fungi was published in 2009. After that plenty of knowledge has been accumulated. Here we present all new information including three species new to Finland as well as species new to one or several boreal zone sections in Finland. Amyloathelia amylacea, Tubulicium vermiferum, and Tulasnella danica are reported as new to Finland, together with records of some species that are very rare in the whole of Finland, such as Athelia cystidiolophora, Brevicellicium exile, Chaetoporellus curvisporus, Melzericium udicola, Phlebia lindtneri, and Postia mappa. In total, 67 aphyllophoroid fungi are listed as new to some sections of the boreal or hemiboreal vegetation zone in Finland; new records have been made in altogether eight sections out of eleven. We accumulated here all records which were not included in the Finnish checklist, including those that have already been published somewhere else. Thus this paper can be used as a supplement to the checklist.

Epiphytic lichen diversity in Estonian and Fennoscandian old coniferous forests
Lichen species richness and species composition were compared between Estonian and Fennoscandian old coniferous forests, with a special emphasis on woodland key habitat indicator species. Altogether 42 Picea abies and 40 Pinus sylvestris sample plots were studied in Estonia, Finland, Sweden and Norway. In every plot lichens were recorded on five randomly selected trees; in addition, tree age and canopy openness by the sampled trees were measured. The results revealed clear differences in lichen species composition; the occurrence of many species differed between Estonia and Fennoscandia. Several indicator species were recorded only in one or two sample plots; the relatively frequent indicators differed between the two studied areas. The number of lichen species per sample plot was significantly higher in Fennoscandia compared to Estonia. Maximum tree age was positively correlated with species richness in Estonian spruce sample plots, and mean canopy openness with species richness in Estonian pine sample plots.

Lichens and their substrate preferences on the Pakri Peninsula (Northwest Estonia)
A checklist of lichenized and lichenicolous fungi of the Pakri Peninsula is presented and an overview of substrate preferences of recorded taxa is compiled. The list includes 243 species, eight of them appear new to Estonia: Catillaria atomarioides, Lecanora persimilis, Micarea lithinella, Opegrapha calcarea, Staurothele rupifraga, Thelidium olivaceum, T. papulare and Verrucaria hochstetteri. Verrucaria maculiformis, which was considered extinct in Estonia, is re-found, and Staurothele caesia, which has earlier been recorded as dubious for Estonia, is verified hereby. The greatest diversity of species is recorded among epilithic taxa, altogether with 121 species of which 63 species occurred on calcareous stones, 60 on granite, 18 on concrete and 12 on sandstone.

Distribution of Schistostega pennata in Latvia
Information on Schistostega pennata is limited in the Baltic countries. In Latvia S. pennata is listed as ‘rare’ in the Red data book but still little is known about the species distribution in relation to habitat and substrate. A search of all available literature and unpublished records provided information on about 21 S. pennata records in Latvia from 1924 until 2010 from different habitats and substrates. In total 18 records of S. pennata were found from protected areas. The latest records suggest that it is more common in Woodland Key Habitats on Picea abies root mass, than on sandstone in Latvia.

Four additional lichens from the Antarctic and South Georgia, including a new Leciophysma species
Four lichen species new to the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic South Georgia are reported. One is new to science: a species of Leciophysma with rough, non-granular thallus and reduced proper exciple. A total of 484 lichenized fungal taxa have now been reported from Antarctica and South Georgia.

Fungal herbarium EAA in Tartu (Estonia)
Fully databased Mycological Herbarium of the Phytopathological Research Station of the Tartu University (Estonia) was founded together with the Station by Prof. Fedor Bucholtz in 1922. According to the PlutoF database, 1 January 2011 in the herbarium EAA there were 23,406 fungal specimens including 8,017 mainly microfungi collected in Estonia. Most of the Estonian specimens were collected by Elmar Lepik, the Head of the Phytopathological Station from 1929–1944
(4,447 specimens).

Diversity and distribution of aphyllophoroid fungi growing on Common Juniper (Juniperus communis L.) in Estonia
In the study we present a checklist of aphyllophoroid fungi growing on Juniperus communis in Estonia with the data of ecology, phenology and distribution. The paper summarizes results of study on 1026 specimens from fungus collections, and authors’ observations. There are 104 species of aphyllophoroid fungi recorded growing on junipers in Estonia, 56 of them have only been found once. The most frequent species can be claimed to be Peniophora junipericola, followed in its frequency by Amylostereum laevigatum, Hyphodontia juniperi, Hyphodontia alutaria, Basidioradulum crustosum and Hyphodontia arguta. Atheloderma mirabile and Sistotrema heteronemum can be considered among rare species, which have only been found once in Estonia (also they are growing on juniper). Two species are listed in threat categories of the Estonian Red List: Oxyporus philadelphi and Lindtneria trachyspora. The former one is also protected by law in Estonia.

New records of lichens and allied fungi from the Leningrad Region, Russia. II
Thirty species of lichens, one lichenicolous fungus and two non-lichenized fungi are reported from the Leningrad Region (Eastern, Western or Saint-Petersburg). Candelaria pacifica, Lecanora compallens, Monodictys epilepraria and Vezdaea retigera are reported for the first time for Russia, Gregorella humida is new to European Russia, Micarea hedlundii and Strangospora microhaema are new to North-Western European Russia. Arctomia delicatula var. acutior, Coenogonium luteum and Lepraria aff. atlantica are new to the Leningrad Region. Brief discussions on most interesting records are included.

Additions to the lichen biota of Berezovye Islands, Leningrad Region, Russia
66 species of lichens, 9 lichenicolous fungi and 4 non-lichenized saprobic fungi are reported as new to the Berezovye Islands (Leningrad Region, Russia). The updated lichen biota of the archipelago comprises 356 species. Caloplaca maritima, Lecanora compallens, Verrucaria boblensis and Xanthoriicola physciae are reported for the first time for Russia, Lecanora aitema – for European Russia, Lecanora semipallida and Lichenodiplis lecanorae – for North-Western European Russia. Absconditella sphagnorum, Chaenothecopsis vainioana, Lempholemma polyanthes and Opegrapha niveoatra are new to the Leningrad Region, Arthonia byssacea and Lecanora subrugosa – to the Western Leningrad Region.

A contribution to the bryoflora of Moricsala Island Nature Reserve, Latvia
Changes in the bryophyte flora in the Moricsala Island Nature Reserve over a 80-year period were determined using historical records and recent data. Detailed studies of the bryoflora on Moricsala were published in 1931 and 1979. A recent study was carried out starting in 2006, in which bryophytes were recorded separately on different substrates. In total, 182 taxa have been found in the study area, including 25 rare and WKH indicator species. The highest species richness occurs on the forest floor. Since 1931, much of the previous meadow habitat has overgrown to forest. Forests have become more shaded and substrate diversity has likely increased, leading to an increased number of epiphytic and epixylic species. Nine meadow species have become extinct in the study area.

New records of lichens and lichenicolous fungi from the Ural Mountains, Russia
A total of 53 taxa of lichens and lichenicolous fungi are first reported from the Ural Mountains (Republic Bashkortostan, Russia). Nine lichen species, Anema decipiens, Bagliettoa parmigera, Diplotomma hedinii, Heteroplacidium compactum, H. zamenhofianum, Lecania suavis, Placidiopsis cinerascens, Placynthium pulvinatum, Psorotichia montinii, and six lichenicolous fungi, Arthonia phaeophysciae, Buelliella poetschii, Karschia talcophila, Lichenopeltella hydrophila, Lichenostigma svandae, Phoma cladoniicola are new to Russia.

Taxonomical rearrangements of Solenostomataceae (Marchantiophyta) with description of a new family Endogemmataceae based on trnL-F cpDNA analysis
The results of trnL-F cpDNA analysis of the suborder Jungermanniineae allow to re-evaluate relations and taxonomy of the morphologically distinctive species Solenostoma caespiticium. A new monotypic family Endogemmataceae is described. The new combination Endogemma caespiticia is made. Provisionally, the genus Nardia is placed in Gymnomitriaceae.

Photobiont composition of some taxa of the genera Micarea and Placynthiella (Lecanoromycetes, lichenized Ascomycota) from Ukraine
The photobionts of 22 specimens of Placynthiella and Micarea genera were identified. The photobionts of Placynthiella dasaea (Stirt.) Khodosovtsev, P. icmalea (Ach.) Coppins & P. James, Micarea melanobola (Nyl.) Coppins and M. misella (Nyl.) Hedl. are reported for the first time. This is also the first report about Elliptochloris reniformis (Watanabe) Ettl & Gärtner, E. subsphaerica (Reisigl) Ettl & Gärtner, Interfilum spp. and Neocystis sp. as the photobionts of lichens. The mycobiont of some taxa of Micarea and Placynthiella can be associated with several algae at the same time. In this case, one is the primary photobiont (common for all lichen specimens of a certain lichen species) while the others are additional algae which vary depending on the substratum or the habitat. Elliptochloris and Pseudococcomyxa species are primary photobionts for the studied taxa of the genus Micarea. The species of Radiococcuus and Pseudochlorella are primary photobionts of the studied species of Placynthiella. For all investigated lichens the low selectivity level of the mycobiont is assumed.
