Good practices at the university
Good practices support the values voiced in the University of Tartu strategic plan and the regulations provided in the bylaws, complying with good practices also assures that the university’s work environment corresponds to international academic standards. Over the recent years, the University of Tartu has prepared good practices in several areas.
Proceeding from the university’s main activity—studies and research—the university has recently focused mainly on good academic practice:
- At the initiative of the Student Council, the good practice of learning was completed.
- Following extensive discussions, the good practice of teaching was completed.
- Already at the end of 2014 the university senate approved the good practice of doctoral studies.
The code of conduct for research integrity and its guidelines were approved in January 2020 and give students and researchers guidance to conduct ethically sound research.
In March 2017, the university senate approved the good practice of leadership. The principles included in this document are reviewed in every five years. However, the Human Resources Office asks all employees to constantly provide good examples that represent certain management principles.
The guidelines for equal treatment concern both the university employees and students (complaint form).
