Competence Centres
The objective of Competence Centres is to boost the international competitiveness of Estonian business by enhancing cooperation between entrepreneurs and research institutions, as set out in the Estonian research, development and innovation strategy for 2007-2013, "Knowledge-Based Estonia".
Competence Centre goalsinclude the following:
• to accumulate and develop a critical amount of top-class competence and resources according to a shared vision of entrepreneurs and research institutions;
• to improve the quality and increase the quantity of applied research that creates added value;
• to increase the number of research and development workers serving the needs of entrepreneurs and to enhance their mobility between businesses and research institutions.
• to strengthen management capacity and the ability for strategic planning of business and research institutions' development activities.
The University of Tartu is a shareholder in or participates as a partner in the following Competence Centres:
