On Thursday, October 31, everyone is welcome to attend the astronomy seminar at the UT Physicum. Senior Research Fellow of Tartu Observatory Jukka Nevalainen will give an overview of astronomical sources and processes producing and absorbing X-ray photons.
Nevalainen will describe briefly how X-ray observations are carried out. He will also show a practical example of X-ray spectroscopy by measuring absorption lines due to the Warm-Hot Intergalactic Medium (WHIM).
The seminar is in English. Fresh astronomy news will also be discussed at the seminar.
