Pärt Uusberg: “I thought long and hard which text to choose for creating the composition dedicated to the anniversary of Estonia’s national university. I read works by many Estonian poets who had connections with the University of Tartu until I suddenly realised that, here and now, my soul was ringing more and more to the poetry by Uku Masing. “… windship with oars of light …” is an attempt to express the unique poetic world of Uku Masing, with fragments from the works of Kristian Jaak Peterson, in music. By coincidence, also the 110th anniversary of the birth of Uku Masing is celebrated in 2019.”
