Linnart Mäll (7.06.1938 - 14.02.2010) was scholar of Oriental studies, translator and politician. His research included Eastern classical texts and specially Buddhist scriptures. He translated into Estonian several Buddhist, Hindu, Confucian and Taoist base texts, also Sanskrit and Tibetan classics. He was head of Centre for Oriental Studies in the University of Tartu. He was member of Estonian Congress, Estonian Council, and Estonian Constitutional Assambly. He was one of the founders and first chairman of Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organissation; he was also one of the main authors of the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Peoples.
