European College of University of Tartu invites you to a public lecture entitled
“The European Dilemmas of Innovation and Modernization”
by Mr Siim Kallas, Visiting Professor of the University of Tartu and Special Adviser to Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commission Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue.

“We have plenty of competitive advantage that we have not yet exploited. My job is to point out the bottlenecks and make Estonia a better place. If we can be an example to ourselves, we can be the same for Europe that greatly needs good examples,“ says Siim Kallas.
He is the former Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Transport and Mobility. He has been an active participant in the restoration of Estonian statehood and has served in Estonia as Prime Minister (2002–2003), Minister of Finance (1999–2002), Minister of Foreign Affairs (1995-1996) and President of the Central Bank (1991–1995). Mr Siim Kallas graduated cum laude from the Finance and Credit Department of the University of Tartu in 1972 and starting from Spring Semester 2015 is affiliated to the University of Tartu as a Visiting Professor.
