European College of University of Tartu invites you to a public lecture entitled “The EU as a Protagonist of the XXI Century? Challenges and Opportunities” by Tunne Kelam, Member of the European Parliament.
This is a part of the lecture series which are focused on Estonian MEPs' experience and direct knowledge of the EU's processes and dynamics.
Tunne Kelam is a Member of the European Parliament from Estonia. He serves on the Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, and the Delegation for Relations with the United States. Prior to serving in the European Parliament, he was a Member of the Congress of Estonia (1990-1992), Chairman of the Committee of Estonia, permanent directorial organ of the Congress of Estonia (1990-1992), a Member of the Constitutional Assembly (1991-1992), and a Member of the Estonian Parliament (1992-2004). He was also Deputy Speaker in the Estonian Parliament (1992-2003), among many other positions. He graduated the University of Tartu in 1959 where he studied history.
