University of Tartu Rector Volli Kalm, Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies and the Student Council invite you to show your support for tolerance.
Let’s gather in the university courtyard and show together that we support a more tolerant Tartu, Estonia and society. Since its founding, the University of Tartu has been a meeting place for different people, cultures and ideas. University people are connected by their wish to acquire new knowledge and this is supported by our intellectual and cultural riches and openness.
We will use a bit of wordplay at the event—sall and sallivus, i.e. scarf and tolerance in Estonian. It would be an impressive sight if several hundred people waved their scarves towards the sky, between the protective walls of the university. The demonstration will be recorded from above with a drone camera and on the ground with a regular camera, so that our message of tolerance would spread further beyond the university.
Come and bring your own scarf, an open mind and friendly attitude!
All participants are offered some snacks since the demonstration of support partially coincides with the lunch break between lectures.
