In the centenary year of Estonia’s national university the opening ceremony of the new academic year takes place at Kassitoome valley. All members of the university and new students are invited to attend the ceremony on 2 September at 16.
After traditional speeches the ceremony continues with a concert performance “Languages of the University”. Language as well as student folklore can be verbal, semantic, symbolic, musical, physical-kinesthetic, cultural, etc. The performance looks back at the last one hundred years through a musical and textual composition that brings the joy of both recognition and discovery.
Performed by students of the music and performing arts departments of UT Viljandi Culture Academy; the director of the concert performance is Raido Mägi, music directors and band leaders Liina Saar and Marek Talts, and producer Heili Lindepuu, all from Viljandi Culture Academy.
The ceremony will conclude with a sing-along led by the musician couple Toomas and Inga Lunge.
All students, academic staff and employees are welcome to attend.
In order to ensure that the evening is even more enjoyable, guests are welcome to bring their picnic blankets and baskets.
