University of Tartu Eurocollege organizes on the 27th of November a discussion day "Emerging donors - the way out of or into the crisis?". The lecture is a part of international series "Kapuscinski Lectures".
Latvia's first female president in 1999-2007, Dr. Vaira Vike-Freiberga discusses over the role of new emerging donors and about the impact of the global economic to the cooperation relations.
The series "Kapuscinski lectures", from the name of Ryszard Kapuscinsk, Polish reporter and writer covering developing countries, is organized in Tartu for the second time. Within the framework of this project best experts from around the world deliver lectures on development and development cooperation. The series of lectures offer experts and students an unprecedented opportunity to learn and discuss development issues related to cooperation. Lecture is followed by panel discussion with representatives from different sectors. The audience will have a chance to ask questions about the topic from the experts.
Last time was this event held in Tartu in 2009, when Estonia was visited by Manchester University Development Studies lecturer, Professor David Hulme. The lecture was about the Millennium Development Goals, and trends in the past decade.
