Dorpater Dozentenabend (DDA) is a series of monthly club meetings the aim of which is to offer a chance for researchers, lecturers and professors from abroad to convene in an informal setting, drink coffee or wine, and share their personal experiences of living in Tartu as well as their research. Typically an evening will begin with a brief talk by one of our international scholars, followed by Q&A and conversation. The name Dorpater Dozentenabend (which translates from German as “Tartu dons’ evening”) has been borrowed from an informal club of non-Estonian dons working at the University of Tartu in the 1930s. The club meetings take place during term time on every third Wednesday of each month at 7pm in the Domus Dorpatensis (www.dorpatensis.ee, tel 733 1345) at Ülikooli 7.
