Course target group:
The people who are interested in developing their own digital image processing procedure and also students who want to have more critical point of view to the digital image processing are the main target group of this course.

The students who have successfully passed the course will get certificate of University of Tartu.

Course description:
The am of this e-course is to establish the initial foundation for the students who are interested in working on image processing. This e-course will increase the knowledge of the students into the level that they will be able to take the course Digital Image Processing (LOTI.05.037).
In this e-course we will focus on the topics:
- interpolation;
- sampling;
- quantization;
- aliasing;
- arithmetic and logic operations;
- convolution and correlation;
- mask operation;
- image averaging;
- ordered statistical filters;
- illumination enchantment;
- first and second order differential operations.
During online course period the online materials will be supplemented by discussion forum and possibility to ask questions from the teachers, as well as by tests and exercises that will be graded (and will jointly determine the final grade).
Course completion requirements:
Accomplishing the test and assessment which are provided in Moodle.
Course outcomes:
After completing the course learners will be able to:
- Understand the meaning of digital image and digital image processing
- Understanding of image resizing and interpolation
- Understanding the quantization and sampling
- Understanding of arithmetic and logic operations
- Understanding of image enhancement in spatial domain
