The 96th anniversary of Estonia’s national university
On December 1, the University of Tartu celebrates the 96th anniversary of Estonia’s national university. The highlights of the celebrations include a traditional ceremonial meeting in the university’s assembly hall, a torchlit procession of students and the traditional university ball. Thursday, 26 November
Signing of the University of Tartu and Estonian Folk Culture Centre cooperation agreement and public debate on “Folk culture and national science in today’s society”, at Jakobi 2, room 114.
Opening of the exhibition of PhD theses defended at the University of Tartu from 1 December 2014 until 1 December 2015. At the UT Library in the main hall on the 2nd floor.

Opening of glass artist Ivo Lill’s exhibition “Memory Code” (“Mälukiri”) at the University of Tartu Art Museum.
Monday, 30 November
Lecture by UT Honorary Doctor of Economics Professor Mark F. Peterson “Culture differences and their implications for business and government” at Narva mnt 4, room A314.
Tuesday, 1 December
Ceremony to mark the 96th anniversary of Estonia’s national university: anniversary lecture, conferment of honorary doctorates and PhD degrees, presentation of the university’s award for contribution to Estonian national identity.
