Estonian Ministry of Defence, Defence Forces and the University of Tartu signed a cooperation agreement to create a doctoral student place
On 17 December 2014, the representatives of the Estonian Ministry of Defence, Defence Forces and the University of Tartu signed a cooperation agreement to create a strategic‑interest doctoral student place outside the usual state-funded activity support for doctoral studies.
On behalf of the Defence Forces, the Estonian National Defence College (ENDC) orders the student place. According to the terms of reference of the ENDC, the University of Tartu creates one doctoral student place financed outside the activity support in the doctoral curriculum of Educational Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Education. According to the agreement, the research topic is “Increasing the efficiency of teaching in the Defence Forces by problem-based approach”.
The estimated cost of the student place is 16,400 euros per academic year, covering the doctoral student’s allowance, participation in research conferences and other costs related to conducting research and publishing the results. The University of Tartu will ensure the doctoral student access to all technical and intellectual support required for the research, look for and recommend to the student conferences and seminars related to the research field and the military field in general and recommend research journals for presenting and publishing the results of the research.
