An International Master Student at UT Gained International Recognition
Givi Kupatadze, an international master student in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics at UT, has gained international recognition with the Taxpayers' Index developed in his Master Thesis.
A few days ago, with his Taxpayers’ Index, Givi Gupatadze has deserved an international attention by winning the Grand Prix at Think Tank Dragon Den competition of new ideas at 10th European Resource Bank The Viennese Congress „Milestones for an Open Europe“ in Vienna, 7-9 June, 2013. Among big number of applicants, Givi Kupatadze was first elected to the group of four nominees who were offered to present their ideas to a representative international panel. After presentations and discussions the jury declared Givi Kupatadze the winner of the competition and he will be awarded a prize of EUR 5000 for furthering and implementing the ideas.
It's worth to mention that Givi Kupatadze has taken the first place among extremely qualified and experienced competitors. One of the main competitors was the chairman of "Europeans of Tax Reform" with many years of working experience in Brussels headquarters. The jury of the competition was composed from highly recognized international experts, including the founder of "Taxpayers' Alliance" of UK, who was offered to work as a main strategist of British Prime Minister.
The Taxpayers' Index is a quantitative measure expressing in what extent the fiscal rights of taxpayers are protected by legal regulations in a given country. Taxpayers’ Index can be used for monitoring and improving the legal climate of the economy with purpose to ensure the rights of taxpayers.
