Open lecture on the role of traditions in modern Korean society
On Thursday, 6th November, 2014, an open lecture titled „Korea: Traditional Features in Modern Society“ will be held at the Institute of Cultural Research and Fine Arts by Dr. Elena Kondratyeva, Associate Professor of the Department for the History and Philology of Far East at the Russian State University for the Humanities. Time: 2:15 – 15:45 PM, location: Room 102, Ülikooli 16 Building.
The subtopics to be discussed on the lecture are:
(1) Korean History & Ethnic Relations;
(2) Religious Beliefs: phenomenon of adaptation;
(3) Features in Material Culture of Korea: architecture, food, clothing;
(4) Influence of Confusianism on Culture and Society; (5) Most Representative Symbols of Korean Culture.
Open lecture is organized by the Korean Foundation of South Korea in co-operation with the Centre for Oriental Studies, UT, in the framework of international seminars to promote Korean Studies worldwide.
