Public lecture on Debate in the Study of Buddhism
On Wednesday, April 15 16.15–19.45, an open lecture titled „Debate in the Study of Buddhism “ will be held at Jakobi 2-114 by Geshe Graham Woodhouse.
Graham Woodhouse is a British monk. He is one of the very few Westerners trained in the traditional Tibetan way as a geshe.
Thanks to lecture you can take the first steps in learning how to debate in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
Debate is Tibetan Buddhism's primary mode of philosophical enquiry and is the liveliest and most amusing way of approaching near to Buddhism's timeless wisdom.
It is not about making speeches but about directed question and answer using traditional moves and gestures, challenger and defender each energising the other to overcome their own and the other's ignorance. In this way they train to make sense of Buddha's radical teachings on ultimate truth.
Everybody are welcome to attend.
